Innovations in orthodontic technologies have focused on new methods of delivering effective, comfortable and convenient treatment. Invisalign and Smiles Correct are two advanced treatment methods that discreetly shift teeth into proper alignment without the need for traditional braces. At Tilghman Orthodontics, we will provide patients with a thorough examination and recommend the treatment plan that’s right for you.

You’ve probably heard a lot about Invisalign, but Smiles Correct may be more unfamiliar. We go into the specifics of both treatments below.

How Do Invisalign & Smiles Correct Work?

Invisalign and Smile Correct work using similar principles, relying on a series of clear aligner trays to shift teeth into proper position. Each tray is customized to fit perfectly, crafted from precise 3D impressions taken of the inside of your mouth. These aligner trays are removable, so you can take them out for drinking, eating and oral hygiene.

Depending on the severity of your condition, you may need to wear the aligners for as little as a few months or for up to two years. These trusted techniques can correct a wide range of orthodontic issues:

  • Tooth crowding
  • Improper spacing
  • Crooked teeth
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites

What’s the Difference?

By now, you’re probably thinking that Invisalign and Smiles Correct are identical. However, there are some key differences between the two. Smiles Correct is meant for mild orthodontic issues that require shorter treatment times and less supervision from your orthodontist. We take your impressions in our Salisbury and Berlin office locations using our iTero Scanner to determine if Smiles Correct is the right fit for you. Then, we create your aligners for you right in our office! For other “at-home” orthodontic systems, the scan centers can be up to 2 hours away, and don’t offer the support of orthodontic specialists, like Dr. Tilghman and Dr. Schwartz.

We are the first practice in the area to offer this incredible service, which aims to give patients the smile they deserve for a lower cost than traditional Invisalign treatment. For teens or adults who have mild orthodontic issues, requiring less supervised care and treatment time, Smiles Correct may be right for you.
