Wire Out of Tube
- Use tweezers to put wire back in tube
- Use wax if uncomfortable
- Call for an appointment if you cannot get it back in
Broken Wire
- Use wire cutters or heavy fingernail clippers to trim wire (pull out excess)
- Use wax if uncomfortable
- Call next businss day for an appointment
Wire Poking
- Bend wire back with spoon or pencil eraser
- Cut excess wire with wire cutters
- Use wax
- If necessary call next business day for an appointment
Loose Bracket or Band
- Leave the bracket or band in place if it is still attached to the wire
- Cover with wax if uncomfortable
- Save the part if it comes out completely
- Call next business day for an appointment
Broken Hook (for elastics)
- Stop wearing elastics immediately
- Call next business day for an appointment
Chain Off
- Clip excess chain
- Call next business day for an appointment
Loose or Broken Appliance (fixed/non-removable)
For example: Expansion, Pendulum, Nance, Lower Lingual or TPA
- Call for an appointment
Loose or Broken (removable appliances)
For example: bite plane, night guard or retainer
- Discontinue wear
- Call next business day for an appointment
- Bring your broken appliance with you to your scheduled appointment
